Sacramento got her PhD from Georgetown University in 2011 and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Medieval Literature at Syddansk Universitet, Denmark, were she is currently Research Affiliate. Sacramento studies the dynamic between history writing and the emergence of fiction in the late middle ages as it shapes form of secular life-writing. Her interest in Petrism comes from her study of female networks connected with the phenomenon. She is co- founder and coordinator of the network Redes Petristas and petristas.org. She is co-editing a Critical Cluster for La Coronica on Redes Petristas. She has published work on Castilian chronicles and is working on a monograph on pre-modern life-writing and gender.
